Artist Statement
Rural Abstracts
I see buildings as bold studies of artistic elements, structures our eyes might dismiss as mundane artifacts of rural life. We drive by these buildings often and seldom take time to stop and discover the beauty of these structures that never change. My emphasis on shape, color and repeating patterns of built environments draws the viewer away from a building’s function and pulls him to its powerful aesthetic.

Artist Bio
Paul Brokering grew up in Denver, has lived in several towns in Nebraska and graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Architecture. Ten years ago he returned to Denver and admits that his passion for photography has overtaken his career as an architect. “There is something about the instant gratification of photography, combined with more control of the creative process and my love of gadgets that seem to form a powerful elixir.”
Paul has been exhibiting his photography in Colorado and Nebraska since 2005 along with many installations.
