Duke Beardsley is one of Colorado’s most successful painters,
and this exhibition will be his first solo show in Denver in almost a
decade. Beardsley keeps his brush in two worlds. He’s a classic
Western painter, hopping on his horse and heading out to the range
to capture present-day cowboys at work. But he’s got a distinctly
contemporary way of presenting things, playing with lines and shadows
and blocks of bright colors. If any one artist captures the region’s
fascination with its past and its belief in its present, it’s Beardsley.
